The fourth of twelve original Jaguar E-type lightweights to be built, '86 PJ' as it has been registered and referred to from new, was first supplied to Tommy Atkins in 1963. With the exception of the prototype Coombs car, this would mark the delivery of the first lightweight to the UK. Finished in light metallic green as it presents today, Atkins had Roy Salividori lined up to competed in the 1963 season with the car. Lining up at Goodwood for the Easter meeting, he would face stiff competition from Graham Hill in the prototype E-type lightweight and from Mike Parkes in a 250 GTO. Salvidori would place third on his first outing.
Despite extensive competition at the hands of Salvidori and later, Roger Mac, 86 PJ escaped unscathed and largely original. Benefitting from the most sympathetic of restorations by marque specialists Eagle, 86 PJ even retains its original interior to date. Discreety rehomed in 2021 by DK Engineering, this extraordinary E-type continues to see regular use by its new custodian.
