Last weekend, the DK Engineering team had the pleasure of attending the 2024 Goodwood Revival, where the unpredictable British weather added an extra layer of challenge to one of the most revered exciting weekends in historic motorsport. Though the rain came down hard, it did little to dampen the spirits of competitors and spectators alike. The slippery surface highlighted the raw skill of the drivers and the capabilities of the historic machines they piloted.
As always, DK Engineering brought a clutch of race cars to glorious Goodwood. Among them was the Tojeiro-Jaguar which was prepared by Josh Burling, and our GT40 prepped by Pursuit Racing.
The GT40, guest-driven by Jeremy Cottingham participated in the Whitsun Trophy, which caters to V8 sports prototypes and is famed as the fastest race at Goodwood, featuring the quickest cars allowed to race at the Motor Circuit.
Jeremy also teamed up with Joe Twyman to share the wheel of the Tojeiro-Jaguar in the Sussex Trophy. They rivalled James Cottingham and Richard Cook, who were piloting the fierce Lister-Jaguar 'Costin'. The battles on the track were nothing short of breathtaking, where drivers such as 3x Le Mans winner Andre Lotterer, 9x Le Mans champion Tom Kristensen, 3x BTCC champ Gordon Shedden were also competing. Friends of DK Olly Bryant and Andrew Smith ultimately took the win in a Lotus-Climax 15 on the rain-slicked surface.
Saturday's highlight was the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy, where James Cottingham and Richard Cook took on the race in the AC Cobra 260. This car holds a special place in our hearts, having previously won the Moss Trophy at the 80th Goodwood Members' Meeting. Named in honour of the legendary Sir Stirling Moss, this hour-long, two-driver race features some of motorsport's most beautiful and iconic cars.
Of course, no Goodwood Revival would be complete without the charming Settrington Cup, the pedal car race that has become a firm fan favourite since it was first introduced in 2012. This year, DK Engineering's very own Austin J40, which has been a part of the DK family since 1973, was back on the grid. This time, it was Andrew Smith's daughter, Kiki, taking on the challenge and giving it her all in this entertaining race.
Away from the track, we had the pleasure of hosting clients in the elegant Ralph Lauren Control Tower hospitality enclosure. True to the Goodwood Revival's spirit, the entire DK team were dressed to impress, thanks to the support of Ralph Lauren. The Revival is as much about the style and atmosphere as the racing, and this year was no exception. The event perfectly blended vintage fashion, historic motorsport, and top-tier hospitality.
The Goodwood Revival remains an unmatched event in the historic motorsport calendar, and we're already counting down the days until next year.
