80th Members’ Meeting kickstarts another year of glorious Goodwood for DK Engineering

The historic Goodwood motor circuit came alive once again on the weekend of the 15th of April for the 80th edition of the mighty Members’ Meeting. With the sun shining on occasion, the DK Engineering team were there in full support showcasing several special vehicles.

Alongside the plethora of races that took place throughout the weekend, this year there were also a few demonstration runs in which DK were happy to assist with a few cars.

Of these thrilling demonstrations, our recently restored and 4-time Le Mans 24 Hour entrant 1974 Porsche 911 3.0 RSR participated in a hugely special showcase of Porsches, in celebration of 75 years of the Stuttgart marque. Running alongside the likes of Emanuele Pirro in a 1997 911 GT1, Tom Kristensen behind the wheel of a 1998 911 GT1, the infamous 935/78 'Moby Dick' and a flock of 993 GT2 Evos, the track was peppered with Porsche royalty.

Into the evening, right as the sun set over the track, the howl of top-flight GT Racers from the early 21st Century came into play for a spectacular showcase. The DK Engineering and Girardo & Co. 2002 Ferrari 550 Maranello Prodrive took to the track, alongside a further two examples out of the ten examples raced in period. A spectacular sight and sound to behold.

Battling alongside fierce competition, the Gurney Cup, open to sports prototypes of a type that raced between 1960 and 1966, gave our 1965 Ford GT40 an opportunity to stretch its legs with the talented Andrew Smith behind the wheel.

The second last race of the weekend saw the much-coveted Moss Trophy, open to closed-cockpit GT cars and prototypes, much in the spirit of the RAC TT races of 1958-1962. Richard Cook, a close friend of DK entered his stunning 1962 AC Cobra supplied to him by us in 2021, and subsequently restored by specialists Pursuit Racing who continue to support and run the car. The drive was given to James Cottingham, who after a nail-biting battle with the equally talented Alex Buncombe behind the wheel of a 1962 Jaguar E-type, took victory after a 20-minute stint at the wheel.
