The annual Silverstone Classic moved this year to a new date sitting three weeks later in the calendar, to the August bank holiday weekend. With record ticket sales, over 100,000 people attended over the course of the three day event. A wealth of grids were celebrated over the weekend, including a special display of Group C sportscars, marking 40 years since their first ever race.
This year marked the celebration of 10 years of perseverance in attending and now finally taking the podium in the Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy for pre-63 cars. Both James and Harvey were in the hotseat of the Huffaker E-Type roadster, coming home more than a minute clear of second place.
The pair also competed fiercely in the Ecosse Tojeiro-Jaguar in the Stirling Moss Trophy, MRL’s pre-61 sports car showcase. Having put the car on pole in qualifying and a fierce race, it was ultimately a final lap snatch by the Lister Knobbly of Spiers/Hancock that left the DK team in 3rd place.
The team will be back in just a few short weeks, racing once more at the Goodwood Revival, fielding cars in five separate races.
