For the first time ever DK Engineering were in attendance at Masterpiece London Art Fair, joining over 130 international exhibitors of art, design, furniture and antiquities.
We chose to attend as an art dealer, offering art, and were received as such. Much like the greatest painters and sculptors, the cars presented at Masterpiece were penned and constructed by masters of their field. Factoring in the dynamics of motion, aerodynamics and ultimately styled by the era of their definition; the examples we have chosen to present stand apart from their alternatives in their time. Unlike much of the artwork on display however, one could argue the day the cars completed their build was only the very start of their historical significance. The work that Ferrari achieved in period is not to be under appreciated; instead it provided a pedestal from which the cars could accumulate provenance, history, purpose and most importantly, great memories.
The talk of the show amongst exhibitors and visitors alike, we were proud to have displayed two very significant cars at the event. We were proud to display the final of 14 RHD Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWBs and our 1997 Ferrari F50, formerly owned by 7 time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher. We also had a wealth of memorabilia in collaboration with Race Used and some prominent collectors. Notably we had; a race suit worn by Michael Schumacher at the 2003 Japanese Grand Prix, where he clinched his 6th World Championship, one of the final race-worn helmets used (and signed) by Fernando Alonso during the later half 2014 F1 season and the even the original French Tricolore used to start the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans, the most recent occasion Ferrari took home the chequered flag.
