Over the same weekend as Salon Prive, the grounds of Hampton Court once more played host to the Concours of Elegance. An event with less focus on competition and instead of a collection of 60 significant and intriguing vehicles from history.
We were on hand to support two cars before and for the duration of the event. Arriving on Friday morning for the Grand Entrance, the cars were driven in from the golf club on the Royal Estate to the back of the palace. Since 2019, we have cared for a 1953 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith by Hooper & Co, used in 1956 as the wedding car for Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco. It was driven into the event alongside a RHD Ferrari 250 SWB Berlinetta; the last of the 14 cars built presented in its original Maserati colour of Verde Tevere. This very car competed at Goodwood Revival in 2019 at the hands of DK’s James Cottingham and multi-Le Mans winner Andre Loterrer, a car also in our care.
The cars were on display over the weekend and the ‘Best in Show’ award, as voted for by owners displaying cars, was taken by a unique 1934 Voisin C-27 Aérosport Coupe. Inspired greatly by the aviation background of its founder Gabriel Voisin, the car also saw a number of Art Deco design touches that justified its overall victory!
On the Sunday of the event, a Ferrari F40 supplied by ourselves that we continue to maintain, store and prepare for events again stormed the Concours lawn and picked up another award, RAC Club Trophy winner on the main stage of the event. In the past three years, this example has won no fewer than twelve separate awards at seven events.
