We return to work this week after a very successful and enjoyable week at Blenheim Palace for the 15th edition of Salon Prive. This year numbers on the door were strong, and every day was a sell-out. Once more we had a stand and presented a fantastic selection of our stock as well as notable guest cars on different days. We were very proud to have been allowed to display Ferrari 250 LM #6313, very nearly the last Ferrari to win Le Mans but finished a hugely commendable 2nd OA in 1965.
Other highlights from our stand included a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, one of just 20 coupes to leave the factory and one of three to feature the stunning Stirling Moss heritage 300 SLR blue plaid interior. We also featured 1 of just 10 UK supplied Ford GTs, a Dark Blue Metallic Porsche Carrera GT, a Miura P400 S and a ‘Flares’ Dino GTS to name but a few.
We were heavily involved on the Concours lawn too, supporting a significant number of client entries. Most notably, we were once more supporting Ferrari 166MM #0008M, arguably of the most important Ferraris ever built. In our care since June 2019, #0008M is the only car to ever win both the Mille Miglia and Le Mans and this instance did both in the very same year, 1949. Unfortunately placing second behind the Alfa Romeo 8C of Ian Livingstone after we assisted in the startup for judges!
Our team was on hand to support a number of other cars in Class G; a 212 Export Vignale and 166/53 Pininfarina - both sold by ourselves in the past year, were well received by the judges. David Cottingham’s 500 TRC, which has been owned and raced at more than 160 events by the family was awarded the Passione Corsa for long-term achievement.
Additionally, we supported two McLaren F1 road cars, 028 & 037 of which both were favourably received by judges and visitors alike. 1 of just 4 original Argento Nurburgring Ferrari F50s attended that we sold to its current custodian was in attendance too along with the ex-Lord Hesketh Porsche 3.0 RS that visited our premises recently.
