The Alfa Romeo Giulia 105 series is a stunningly beautiful car, introduced in 1962 to replace the 101 series range of compact saloon and performance cars. The 2000 GT Veloce was introduced in 1971 as a direct replacement for the 1750 range in both the European and US markets. Similarly to its predecessor, the most significant change introduced was an increase in engine displacement, this time to 2,000cc and now producing 130hp at 5,500rpm. Despite the increase in power being slight, when combined with the lightweight chassis performance was transformed.
A number of cosmetic improvements were also made including a re-designed front grill assembly and larger rear assemblies. Inside a new instrument cluster could be seen as opposed to the dash installed gauges seen in all earlier cars. This LHD 2000 GTV was manufactured on the 30th June 1972 destined for the European market. In 1986 it was subsequently sold and exported to the United Kingdom where remarkably it has remained until present.
Mr Giuseppe Visconti located in London would later purchase the car and remain the owner until it was sourced and subsequently purchased by Alfa Romeo expert Mr Carl Kirk in 2010. Carl purchased the car in a neglected state with means to subject the car to a total restoration from the ground up. In October 2010 Carl began a most comprehensive restoration returning the car to a most exceptional condition. During the extensive restoration the body was totally stripped to a bare shell and beautifully painted in the stunning shade of Alfa Rosso. The superb restoration was featured in classic car magazine 'Classics Monthly'. A thorough photographic record of the restoration also accompanies the cars history file.
Its most recent owner acquired this superb GTV in 2013 with just 45,000 Miles reading on the odometer. It has since covered a mere 4,800 Miles during this tenure. Due to the multi-year waiting list for a scratch built "Alfaholics GTA-R" the current owner decided to send this car to them in August 2015 for a full upgrade; utilising the already expertly restored basis of the car and jumping the queue. Alfaholics completed a number of upgrades to transform this GTVs driving experience including fitting their trademark 216hp Big Valve Monza Twinspark engine, an Alfaholics inlet manifold, twin Weber 45 DCOE carburetors, an uprated induction kit, an Omex 3-D mapped Ignition kit, a lightened flywheel, a hydraulic clutch conversion, an Alfaholics performance exhaust, an aluminium radiator, an oil cooler, an electric cooling fan, lightened Alfaholics Race Prop, 6-Pot GTA-R brake upgrade, Stage two "Fast Road" suspension package, GTA wheels with Yoko AD08 tyres and GTA wheel nuts.
Additionally the interior was upgraded with sports road seats trimmed in Black Hide with a bespoke 2000 GTV style stitching, matching trimmed Black rear seat, Wilton wool carpets bound in leather with rubber Alfa logo heel pads, Alfaholics Dynamat road kit, Alfaholics retro look radio with CD/Bluetooth, Momo steering wheel and ECU driven rev counter conversion. In total over £43,000 was spent with Alfaholics ensuring that this 2000 GTV is significantly superior to the rest!
Today this superb example is ready to be enjoyed and presents exceptionally having received said work. It is accompanied by a superb history file with photographic documentation of its comprehensive restoration as well as recent upgrades carried out by Alfaholics. Available to view at our showrooms just outside London immediately this upgraded GTA-R presents a fabulous and immediate opportunity to own one of these most sought after Alfas.
