Ferrari's 201 mph F40 is the definitive supercar and has a formidable reputation alongside the 250 GTO as possibly the best road Ferrari built to date. With the F40, Pininfarina produced an era-defining creation, one that even today is instantly recognisable by old and young enthusiasts alike. F40's were closely derived from the experimental GTO Evoluzione and the road-going 288 GTO (that the F40 replaced). The design features a tubular steel chassis with bonded composite inserts, most notably around the sills and floor pan, The 2,936 cc motor produces approximately 500 bhp at 7,000 rpm with the help of two water-cooled IHI turbochargers running 1.1 bar of boost. At 1,202 kg, the F40 had, and still has, a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio. Shatteringly fast by any comparison (especially for 1988), the F40 can sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and hit 201 mph flat out making it the first production car to surpass this mystical boundary.

This example was supplied new by Autodiffusion S.A. of Switzerland in 1989 to Michel Lepeltier. Moving from France to Geneva in the 1960s, Lepeltier was an avid and lifelong enthusiast of the marque who set up and successfully ran his own independent garage.
After his death, the car remained in the care and private storage of his family for 13 years until 2003 when it was sold along with his entire collection. The F40 was sold to its second custodian who would register the car in France where it would remain for another decade.
In 2013 the car was imported into the UK where it received a major service including cambelts and fuel tanks at Ferrari Graypaul. It was awarded Ferrari's red book Classiche certification at the same time. At the time of its arrival in the UK, this example had covered just 4,300 km from new. Its first UK owner, Mr Bartrum would keep the car for 4 years, and using it on just a handful of occasions. Servicing was handled by H.R. Owen Ferrari which it visited on two occasions. The F40 would cover just 600 miles (1,000 km) in his care. In 2017, DK Engineering inspected the car but it was sold to a Brazillian racer who kept the car in storage in the UK.
Whilst we had missed the opportunity on this wonderful low mileage example once, we weren't to be beaten again and in 2020 we purchased and then sold the car to its fourth UK based owner. The car passed through our workshops at the time and has continued to do so since. Residing within our storage facility since 2020, this F40 recieved a major service at DK including cambelts in 2021 at 5,760 km and again three years later in October of 2024. Having covered just 40 km in the three year period and a further 40 kilometres since, today this example presents with just 5,840 km from new.
The fuel tanks will be changed as a part of the sale to its next custodian. A wonderful opportunity to acquire a low mileage example of a non-cat, non-adjust F40.
