This 1970 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 represents a great example of Ferrari’s grand tourer, originally ordered in August 1970 through Maranello Concessionaires of Egham by its first owner, Gerald Thomas, the famed British film director of the “Carry On” film series. 1 of just 52 UK RHD Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 models, this example was originally supplied in the eye-catching Oro Nashrullah with Pelle Tobacco interior with factory supplied Campagnolo wheels.

Meticulously cared for throughout its life, this particular example is accompanied by two extensive and well-documented history files. Including a Ferrari leather wallet with original documents such as the handbook, parts manual, early ownership correspondence, past MOTs, service and maintenance records. The car boasts Ferrari Classiche Certification and is accompanied by a tool roll.

Upon its initial delivery in 1970, the car had a dealer-fitted radio, speakers, an electric aerial fitted, adding to the already luxurious interior. Routine services and care followed, including the fitment of headlamp covers along with preventative mechanical repairs, ensuring that it remained in peak condition. Accruing just 10,050 miles in two years, it was taken in by Maranello Concessionaires as a part exchange and subsequently sold to William Shand Kydd who was a renowned businessman, jockey and racehorse owner whom later commissioned a repaint to a dark green.

Over the years, the car passed through the hands of several enthusiastic owners, each committed to preserving its superb condition which can be witnessed by the extensive history file. In the late 1970s through to the early 1980s the car saw significant mechanical upkeep and care. In the 1984, the car saw use in the United States both in California and Oregon, where the detailed and meticulous upkeep continued. It was here where the car was repainted and trimmed to the current exterior colour of Rosso with the interior colour Pelle Crema.

Returning to the United Kingdom in January 1990, the car underwent a full inspection before being used over the next 7 years by its then new owner Mr Hatfield. The Ferrari changed ownership in July of 1997 after the Coys Silverstone Auction, where it became part of Ben Grigsby’s collection. The 365 continued to see regular specialist servicing and repairs throughout the years.

The car was then purchased by its current custodian in 2007 who has enjoyed the car in various shows and rallies during the last 17 years whilst having it maintained by DK Engineering. In 2015, the car was inspected and awarded its Classiche Certification confirming it’s authenticity as matching numbers example throughout.

Most recently, in 2022, this Ferrari received a full re-chrome and exterior body seal replacement, with its most recent service carried out in June of 2024. With 83,277 miles recorded, this 365 GT 2+2 remains an exceptionally well maintained and a great opportunity for the discerning Ferrari enthusiast.
