Following in the footsteps of the fabled F40, Ferrari’s F50 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1995. Hugely influenced by Formula 1 design and technology at the time, at the F50 heart was a naturally aspirated V-12 engine derived from Ferrari’s 641 F1 car, campaigned during the 1991 Formula 1 World Championship. With 512 bhp on tap, its Formula 1 origins and 8,000 rpm redline made the engine truly sonorous when driven as its manufacturers intended. Top speed was claimed as being 202 mph and from a standstill, the F50 would sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in 3.8 seconds.

As if its performance wasn’t enough, what truly set the F50 apart from its competitors at the time was its open-top body style, allowing buyers to choose from the closed comfort of a Berlinetta or the thrill of an open-top sports car, and no open-top sports car on sale at the time could match the sheer performance of the F50. Top-down, the driving experience that the F50 provided its lucky driver and passenger was a close as one could get to driving a road-legal Formula 1 car. Only 349 examples would be built, far fewer than the F40 that preceded it.

Please note, this vehicle is no longer for sale.

This example was supplied new to Ferrari Deutschland in July 1997 and dispatched to the supplying dealership one month later. The car would be collected by the first owner Mr Manfred Schröer of the consultancy firm MSW Consulting by official Ferrari dealership Tamsen GmbH.

Schröer used the car sparingly but was keen to enjoy the car, from a distance at least! He displayed the car on several occasions including the start of the 2001 Supercar Rally from Paris. In 2003, the F50 changed hands and was purchased by connoisseur racer and collector, Andreas Knapp-Voith.

The F50 moved to Japan and entered into a prominent collection accompanied by several other notable examples of the marque. Seeing minimal use, the F50 was carefully stored to present exactly how it was when it launched. This included retaining the original and no longer available factory issue tyre, the Goodyear GS Fiorano, complete with the bespoke tread pattern found exclusively on the model.

In 2024, this example was purchased by DK Engineering and flown to the UK. Upon arrival, this example was thorough photographed, highlighting the wealth of original features and extensive carbon fibre weave, weave that extends to the front bumper which is often lost to inevitable repaints. The example is accompanied by many of its supplied original accessories:

  • Original Books including service book
  • 2 original keys
  • Ferrari build book
  • 3 piece luggage set including outer bags
  • Original torch
  • Flight case including roof panel, roll hoops and fasteners in original Schedoni bag
  • Fabric roof behind rear seats
  • Battery tray
  • Tools, bulbs, wheel socket and tyre inflator
  • Car cover
  • Original tyres will be replaced as part of the sale, but original GS Fioranos can be supplied for display purposes only

Ahead of dispatch to the USA, this example passed through our workshops receiving an annual service as well as new fuel tanks. This fabulous example of Ferrari’s F1-derived supercar is available to view at our showrooms outside London immediately.
