Ferrari F12 Berlinetta (2014)

Introduced in 2013, the F12 Berlinetta is Ferrari's replacement for the long-lived 599 GTB. From the outset, the Maranello-based brand set out to not only vastly improve the performance of their V12 Berlinetta, but also the driveability. Blending elements of GT and supercar, Ferrari created a V12 monster capable of crushing continents in short order, whilst still being more than capable of excelling on any track day and as a daily companion. A core factor in the F12's increased liveability is derived from the fact that it is significantly smaller in every dimension that the car it replaces (50mm shorter, 60mm lower, 20mm narrower and with a 20mm shorter wheelbase). As is often the case, Ferrari also shaved 70kg of weight versus the 599 despite increasing refinement.

The headline performance figures are a staggering 730BHP produced at 8250rpm (with the redline set at a scintillating 8700rpm) from the 6.3litre V12. Whilst the V12 shares its common architecture with the earlier FF, Ferrari designed the F12's engine to produce more power at a higher rpm and with a vastly improved throttle response. Power is sent to the rear-wheels through Ferrari's wonderful 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

Styling wise, Ferrari turned to the trusted hand of legendary design house, Pininfarina. It would later transpire that this would be the last full-production Ferrari to be penned by the hand of Pininfarina before the brands styling would move in-house. The end result of Pininfarina's efforts is a more contemporary and purposeful look than the 599 it replaces.
