Coffee Table

Inspired by the 250 SWB of the 1960s, this handmade steering-wheel coffee table uses Sapele, a west-African hardwood with laser cut aluminium componentry.

Growing from Sierra Leone down to Angola, Sapele is reminiscent of the now-listed Mahogany species.

The centre spokes are aluminium, with 5251 best suited to bending and 6028 best suited to polishing. The Ebony hardwood central inlay first has to be placed in a steam box for up to 4 hours to allow it to bend around a circular jig, where it is left to dry for 3 days before it can be fitted to the wooden rim.

The surface is 6mm toughened glass with a polished edge.
