Ferrari 348 Spider (1993)

In February 1993, the 348 line-up was further enhanced by the arrival of Ferrari's first two-seat convertible since the 365 GTS/4 Daytona, production of which had ended way back in 1973. The 348 Spider was given a public debut on Los Angeles' Rodeo Drive and immediately became a big hit. Development work had begun around the start of the decade, these gorgeous Spider's having been designed as convertibles more or less from the ground up in an attempt to eliminate many of the structural problems normally associated with roadsters.

Lowering the manually-operated hood involved releasing a lever in the middle of the header, moving the top halfway back and then lowering the handbrake-like catch located next to the drivers seat. All that was then required was for the elegant hood cover to be fastened into place. Pininfarina's stunningly executed bodywork made the 348 Spider perhaps the best-looking convertible of the nineties, strengthened door gussets, hinges and shut posts meaning it sacrificed very little in the way of structural rigidity. On its launch, the Spider also pioneered a number of upgrades that would soon become standard on the rest of the 348 range. These included a more efficient exhaust system, new valve springs, timing belt and final drive ratios plus Bosch's improved Motronic 2.7 engine management. Options were limited to a set of fitted Schedoni luggage, metallic paint and a leather-covered tonneau. Production continued until 1996 by which time 1,146 examples had been completed; but just 68 were UK RHD Spiders.

This UK RHD spider is presented in Giallo Modena over classic Nero leather. This car was delivered new through Maranello Concessionaires in August 1993 to Mr Horshell. It has a thorough service history having been looked after by main dealers and specialists since delivery. The cambelts were most recently changed in March 2017 and DK have readied the car for sale in our usual "no stone unturned" manner. Having covered 28,716 miles from new and represents the opportunity to own a highly useable and much sought after Ferrari.
