The GTS version of the 246 Dino arrived at the Geneva Salon in March 1972. It featured a removable targa roof panel that could be stowed behind the seats, the chassis being reinforced with extra bracing along the sides and front of the engine frame. Visibly the GTS had no rear three-quarter windows, these being replaced by a bank of three vents carved out from each sail panel. GTS's were all built on the series III (or "M") platform. Production of both the GT and GTS came to an end in 1974. 1274 GTS's were built in just over two years, 235 of which were in right-hand drive.

The GTS is the final version of the 246 Dino and is often regarded as the most desirable variant of this iconic sportscar. The GTS roof when removed neatly slots in behind the seats however in turn this requires that both the drivers and passengers seats must be brought forward thus compromising leg room.

This unique example represents somewhat of a panacea for those who wish to enjoy a Dino to its full potential. This example was delivered new to Italy in 1974. Shortly after a Mr Marco Hagnagmi purchased the car and in December 1978, subsequently exported the car to the United Kingdom. Mr Joseph Smith purchased the car from Marco in July 1979 and remarkably would keep the car for over 22 years. He regularly used it during his ownership until he sold the car to Peter Sands in October, 2001 with circa 35,000 Miles.

Peter covered under 500 Miles during his two year ownership before he sold the car to Mr Andrew Curtis in December 2003. In 2006 Mr Curtis subject the Dino to a to a full restoration, a complicated process that was managed by Spray-tec Restorations who also ultimately painted the car in their, as ever, indsutry leading highest quality finish. Over a period of 5 years it was completely restored with a lightweight aluminium body constructed by leading body restorers Bodylines. All mechanical components were subcontracted to and rebuilt by Mike Stirland of MDS Services. During the restoration it was painted in the original colour of Azzuro Metalizzato (as previsouly mentioned by Spray-tec) and the interior re-trimmed in a Nero Vinyl with period correct "Daytona" style seats.

Today this example has covered just 40,000 Miles from new, of which just 3,700 have been covered since the aforementioned restoration. The 246 engine in conjunction with its lightweight body has transformed this Dino into a most spectacular GTS. Accompanied by its original equipment including original book pack, spare key and media supplements. This remarkable Dino is accompanied by a superb history file with a comprehensive record of its restoration and UK road registered. It is ready to be used and enjoyed immediately, located at our showrooms just outside London.
