The 275 GTS was launched alongside the 275 GTB in October 1964 at the Paris Salon, the GTS was an overdue replacement for Ferrari's Series II 250 GT PF Cabriolet that had ceased production back in 1962. Producing 280bhp, the GTS was still a formidable performer. With its top speed of 147mph and 0-60 requiring just 6.6 seconds, little else could match it as a great all-rounder due to its excellent chassis shared with the GTB, independent suspension all round, a silky smooth yet powerful and torquey 3.3 Litre V12, disc brakes all round and of course a 5 speed transaxle to match. These attributes, especially the 5 speed gearbox, make a 275 GTS a delight to own and enjoy in the modern environment.
This example was delivered new to the Venezuelan Ferrari importer Carlos Kauffman in Caracas in November, 1965. Supplied in the tasteful colour combination of Grigio Fumo over a Nero Franzi Hide interior, it was sold shortly after to its first private owner. During its life the car has remained in Venezuala and was owned by just 5 private gentlemen who each cared for their most prized possession in respectable fashion. Its most recent owner acquired the car from Marcel Granier in 2012, by which time it had received a colour change to Rosso. In 2015 Mr Atencio of Venezuela embarked upon a most comprehensive restoration and decided to appropriately return the car to its most stunning original colour.
Pre restoration, the car was in a moderate condition and complete in all of its entirety. During its restoration the body was entrusted to Mr. Alfredo Bruck, a multiple award winning individual including Pebble Beach. The body was carefully taken back to bare metal with appropriate repairs being carried out before being beautifully refinished in the original Griogio Fumo colour. Whilst the body was being painted, the well-respected master technician Ernesto Piovesan undertook all mechanical work including a full rebuild of both its matching numbers engine, all running gear and mechanical components.
Today the car is offered for sale in its near complete state as shown. It is available for inspection in the UK and can be supplied, "as is", or including the completion of the restoration by DK's team to our concours winning standards.
