Porsche 911 (993) Turbo Cabriolet (1995)

In the early 1990's after several years of Porsche production volumes soaring and exclusivity crashing, Porsche decided to produce a final iteration of the air-cooled Porsche in an attempt to reunite purists with the Porsche brand. The 993 Porsche was introduced in 1993, and the Turbo model later introduced in 1995. This time however, there were to be no flamboyant derivatives of the Turbo and Porsches investment in making one last version of the original air-cooled 911 was paying off.

With Porsche creating a self-made gap in the market, it was one Herr Fritz Haberl, owner of the acclaimed MAHAG Porsche chain based in Munich. Haberl was certain that a demand was there for a convertible 993 model and took it upon himself to approach Porsche with the idea. After initial silence from Porsche, the Porsche Exclusiv department agreed to build the cars as long as Haberl could find the buyers up front, thus the 993 Cabriolet Turbo was born and just 14 examples would be made. This Porsche Exclusiv project was rumoured to be so under the radar, that the then new Porsche boss Herr Wiedeking was unaware of the project altogether.

Porsche would begin with a 993 Carrera Cabriolet body, squeezing in an M64/50 single-turbo engine, alongside a G50/52 five speed gearbox which would drive only the rear wheels compared with a standard Turbo, equipped with four-wheel drive. The 993 Cabriolet Turbo was set to be an exclusive car that concealed their high performance behind a sleek, but stylish exterior.

This exceptional example was built to RHD specification, ordered by the illustrious collection of the Brunei Royal family, first being registered in May, 1995. In traditional style of the famous collection it was specified with a wealth of options including electric comfort seats, electric roof, carbon steering wheel, handbrake, gearknob and dash, twin airbags, on board computer, power steering, air conditioning, Porsche alarm system, rear seats, front boot carpet, 17 inch cup alloys, 75 litre fuel tank, headlight washers, high strength battery, tinted screen, 4 branch exhaust, body coloured wheel centres, Turbo rear wing and side skirts and English written books.

In 2002 it was purchased by Mr John Marton and subsequently exported to the United Kingdom, with UK registration granted on the 1st December, 2012. Mr Marton would keep the car until September, 2009 before a long term client of DK purchased the car to add to their vast Porsche collection. To date, it has been stored in their state of the art storage facility under DK Engineering's care with very limited usage but regular maintenance.

Today this unique example has covered under 9,150 Miles from new and presents superbly having recently been detailed by our master detailer. Accompanied by its leather book pouch, books and history file this Cabriolet Turbo is ready to be used and enjoyed immediately with viewings available at our showrooms just outside London.
