Alfa Romeo's highly successful combination of compact cars with imposing performance began with the Giulietta in 1954. In 1962 long after this formula was well established, the Giulia was introduced being one of Alfa Romeo's many and most successful designs produced under the patronage of Dr Orazio Satta Puglia. The Giulia's ultimate incarnation - the Sprint Speciale was almost indistinguishable after the work of Carrozzeria Bertone. The curvaceous SS's shape was developed in the wind tunnel, and when combined with the 112 bhp version of Alfa's classic twin cam engine it resulted in a notable top speed of 125 mph. Other improvements included front disc brakes as well as additional instrumentation in the dashboard.
This example is one of an estimated 25 examples that were delivered new to the United Kingdom, this example being supplied on the 22nd January in 1963 with the number plate "7925 PK", which it retains today. From new it was presented in a most stunning combination of Rosso over a Crema and Rosso hide interior.
Having remained in the UK for its entire life, documented by previous keeper's original V5 supplements as well as prior invoices, Mr Jeremy Upsall purchased the car in the early period of the 2000's. During this time, Upsall subjected the car to a thorough restoration that was completed in 2010. Upon completion it was immediately sold on to Mr John Hewitt who kept the car until March 2015.
Having covered just 1,079 miles since the aforementioned restoration, this car presents superbly and comes accompanied by an extensive history file containing invoicing, maintenance and correspondence with well-regarded specialist including Alfaholics and Classic Alfa as well as a complete interior re-trim by TA and JM Coburn. Recently the car has had further work carried out by Gelscoe Motorsport for the current owner.
This stunning limited edition Giulia would enhance any collection and comes accompanied by its extensive history file as well as being UK registered and is available for viewing at our showroom based just outside London.
