The 275 GTS was launched alongside the 275 GTB in October 1964 at the Paris Salon, the GTS was an overdue replacement for Ferrari's Series II 250 GT PF Cabriolet that had ceased production back in 1962. Producing 280bhp, the GTS was still a formidable performer. With its top speed of 147mph and 0-60 requiring just 6.6 seconds, little else could match it as a great all-rounder due to its excellent chassis shared with the GTB, independent suspension all round, a silky smooth yet powerful and torquey 3.3 Litre V12, disc brakes all round and of course a 5 speed transaxle to match. These attributes, especially the 5 speed gearbox, make a 275 GTS a delight to own and enjoy in the modern environment.
This car offered for sale by DK Engineering is one of just 200 cars built by Ferrari. It was completed in June 1965 and originally supplied to Germany. Like many cars of this type it made its way to the USA and it was later purchased by the current owner in 1975. When purchased the car had covered just 25,870 kms from new and was put into storage along with another example in order that it could be restored to perfection in due course. However, due to personal commitments and many other projects, a great number of years would pass before the car was finally shipped to DK in order that it could be totally restored. The car arrived with us in early 2014 at which time it was immediately stripped for restoration.
During the restoration the car was taken back to a bare shell and every component was skilfully restored to original correct specification and to the highest quality. No nut or bolt was left untouched. All components were meticulously rebuilt including the original matching numbers engine, transaxle and gearbox (and internally reflected the low mileage), all required metal work was carried out including the fitment of new floors and the exterior was finished in the fitting colour of Verde Medio. The interior is finished in Blue.
Today the car is available following only a handful of miles since the restoration was completed meaning that it remains in stunning concours condition. Coming from a forty year ownership, with just 26,000 kms from new and presented in such breath-taking condition this is surely an opportunity that cannot be matched and should not be missed.
