In 1992, Ferrari introduced the overdue replacement for the defunct front engined 412, in the form of the Ferrari 456 GT and 456 GTA. Inspired by the iconic styling of the 365 GTC/4, the 456 was heavily influenced by the concept and style similar to that of the Daytona.
Using a newly designed tubular steel spaceframe chassis, in combination with composite and aluminium body panels, the new 2 + 2 Ferrari weighed just 1690Kg. Ferrari made extensive technological advances since producing their last V12 allowing the new V12 powerplant to not only be exceptionally light, but also highly compact. The naturally aspirated 5.5 Litre V12 producing 436 bhp at 6250 rpm and 550 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm, was at the time the second most powerful road car ever produced by Ferrari, humbled by only the F40. 0 to 62 mph was completed in just 5.2 seconds, accelerating towards a top speed of 188 mph, making it the world's fastest production 4 seater.
Dynamically the 456 was also far superior than its predecessor, an all new self-levelling and state of the art rear suspension system was developed. Two alternative suspension settings were introduced; Sport and Touring allowing drivers to configure the dampers according to their driving style, while sophisticated Servotronic power steering electronically adjusted the assistance according to road speed and conditions.
This superb example was manufactured by Ferrari SpA. Maranello in November 1997 and delivered new to its first private owner Verona Italy via dealer Ineco Auto S.P.A. on the 11th December 1997. Supplied in the stunning combination of Grigio Titanio over a Bordeaux Hide. Its high specification from new included Nero Carpets, Rosso Calipers, with Bordeaux dashboard, pillars, head lining and steering wheel.
Remarkably it remained in Italy for the next 18 years, receiving a steady service history from the original main dealer, as well as other Ferrari Main agents, documented by the original maintenance book supplied. In 2015 the car was sold and subsequently exported to the United Kingdom where it received full UK registration in September of the same year.
The condition of the car is superb having covered just 34,650 Miles from new. DK Engineering will complete a full annual service prior to the sale. Supplied with its original tools, spare key and fob, all books and commendable history file, this exceptional 456 is UK road registered and ready to be used and enjoyed immediately, located at our showrooms just outside London.
