The 328 GTS model, together with the fixed roof 328 GTB, were the final developments of the normally aspirated transverse V8 engine 2-seat series. The 328 figures in the model title referred to the total cubic capacity of the engine, 3.2 litres, and 8 for the number of cylinders. The new model was introduced at the 1985 Frankfurt Salon alongside the Mondial 3.2 series.
Essentially the new model was a revised and updated version of the 308, albeit with various changes to the 3-litre engine. Stylistically the 328 model stayed very true to its predecessor's iconic 70's silhouette. The most notable change being a small roof spoiler just aft of the driver. Subtle changes were also made to soften the wedge profile such as moulded bumpers and a more petite front grill. In conjunction with the 328's exterior the car's interior benefitted from more supportive seats and an overall superior build quality throughout.
This particular 328 GTS was supplied new by Maranello in January 1986 to a Mr Perrin of Berkshire. Presented in Rosso Corsa with a Magnolia leather interior, this car benefits from an extensive history file only made possible by the meticulous owners who have previously cared for the car. Extremely well maintained from new this remarkable 328 is accompanied by its spare keys, original books and a comprehensive file of invoices from 1986 as well as almost every MOT dating back to 1988. This car benefits from an optional leather dashboard and has recently been fitted with a stainless Capristo exhaust and had a Cambelt service in 2014. Since then DK Engineering have carried out a full annual service and a great amount of attention was paid to detailing the vehicle to maintain its stunning condition, a further service will be carried out as part of the sale.
The car has been entered into Concours events by its most recent owner, in which the car did unsurprisingly well winning its class in the 2015 Ferrari Owners' Club Concours.
It is rare to find a RHD 328 with presented in such superb condition; it is rarer still to find an example with such a well-documented and comprehensive history of no expense spared maintenance, supplied in this stunning combination and superb condition having covered just 43,800 Miles, this 328 GTS is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner immediately. Viewings are available at our showroom, which is based just outside London.
