Porsche 911 (996) GT3 (2001)

As with the previous RS models, the 996 GT3 was focused primarily on the track and lap times. As a result, many uneccesary items were removed from the car and other weight-saving measures were enforced in an effort make the car as light and nimble as possible. The Naturally-Aspirated Flat-Six engine, which can rev to 7,200 rpm, was what set it apart from other 996 models. There was a dry-sump crankcase with an external oil reservoir and the engines power was upped to 355 bhp. In the GT3, the crankcase uses separate water jackets to cool the cylinders with water pumped through a radiator. Thus, the engine is similar to the completely water cooled Porsche 962 race car. Titanium conrods were installed to keep the engine running smoothly at all revs. A manual gearbox was fitted with interchangeable gear ratios, that benefit from increased durability. Enlarged brakes were also fitted, with track action in mind, along with lowered and slightly tweaked suspension, lightweight wheels and a new front bumper to increase downforce. Sound deadening was almost completely removed, along with the rear seats and the sunroof.

This Right Hand Drive example is an early Mark 1 GT3, delivered in February 2001 to Its first owner. The car is finished in Black Pearl Metallic with a Black leather interior. The vehicle has been maintained at regular intervals, with a total of 12 stamps in the book. The car has optional Automatic Air Conditioning fitted, along with a Becker CD-Radio System, Front Centre Console, Leather Dashboard and Door Panels, Top Tinted Windscreen, On-Board Computer and Instrument Dials Painted in Aluminium.

The car has covered 31,000 miles from new, comes complete with all books and its spare key. In 2015, the car received a major service, which included a thorough check of all components as well as replacing the drive belts and fitting a new tyre pressure monitoring system. Currently available to view at our showroom based just outside London, this fantastic example is one not to be missed.
