The Bentley Continental T, launched in 1996, drew on the previous success of the Continental R and provided sharper performance and an all-round improved driving experience, with a shorter wheelbase that delivered more dynamic handling. The front-mounted 6.75-litre V8 engine provided power to the rear wheels and the performance was impressive for such a large, heavy vehicle. Despite weighing in at almost 2.5 tonnes, the car could still accelerate from 0-60mph in just 5.8 seconds and could carry on to a top speed of 155mph. Of course, this performance was still achieved in the utmost comfort and luxury. The cars feature a push-to-start button, 18" alloy wheels, chrome interior fittings, sophisticated traction control and lowered firmer suspension.
At the time of its launch it was claimed that the Continental T shouldn't be able to do the things it does - however it proved many doubters wrong with its excellent handling, despite its weight. Inside, the interior was just as one would expect to find in a Bentley with wood, leather and exquisite lambswool rugs lining the floors. The seats were upholstered in the finest Connolly Leather and the general finish inside was one of civilisation, comfort and luxury.
This RHD example was delivered to its first owner in November 1999 from the dealership in Leeds, finished in the rare and most fittign colour of Black Sapphire. Over the years, the car has been maintained largely by Bentley Manchester and both the service book and owners handbook are present. To date, the car has covered 22,500 miles. The car recently had a service at Phantom Motor Cars Limited and has covered less than 1,000 miles since this was carried out. During this service, corrosion protection in the form of wax oil was applied to the underside of the car including the sub-frame, brake calipers and suspension arms. Additionally, in 2013 the car was examined by Phantom Motor Cars and anything found to be in need of attention was attended to with invoices for all the works present. The list of works included a new steering rack, wheel refurbishment, new front springs and a rebuild of the brake calipers.
Presented in excellent all round condition, the car is now available to view at our showroom based just outside London.
