The Black Series CLK AMG roots were as a rolling testbed for AMG's mighty M156 V8, the brand's first entirely self-built motor launched in 2005 which is still widely regarded as one of the greatest production car V8s ever built. These mules made an appearance on the CLK Black's launch event, used by the AMG personnel as pace cars for the track test.
The 2006 CLK63 F1 Safety Car then laid the foundations for the production Black Series, both developed by AMG's newly opened Performance Studio. The safety car had a 481hp and 465lb ft version of the M156 V8, a bespoke exhaust, 70mm extra track in the front and 60mm more at the back and plenty of weight saving carbon bodywork to slash 150kg out of the kerbweight. The final production CLK Black Series cars had an upped power output of 507 BHP, from AMG 6.3 Litre V8 enough to propel the car to 60 MPH in just 4.1 seconds. Other improvements included an upgraded rear axle, chassis strengthening throughout, flared wheel arches, a fully adjustable suspension system and a stylishly simple interior.
700 cars were completed and of those just 31 examples were supplied to the UK, making RHD examples rare and highly collectible. This UK supplied car was originally delivered in November 2007 in Obsidian black with the full AMG Black interior. Supplied to the current owner by DK in 2012, this example has been exceptionally well cared with a Full Mercedes-Benz main dealer service history. The car's last service was carried out in February 2015. The total mileage of the car is 42,000 miles. The car is presented in superb condition with is Mercedes Benz books and a comprehensive file of MOTS and service invoices.
