Dino 246 GT (1971)

The much sought-after Ferrari 246 Dino GT was named after Enzo Ferrari's son Alfredino, who died in 1956, aged 24 years. Enzo Ferrari credits his son with the inspiration for a series of successful small and medium capacity V6 racing engines built by Ferrari from 1956, and in turn the name was given to a new line of mid-engined production Ferrari V6 coupés, which first went on sale in 1969. The Dino 246GT has proved to be one of the most satisfying and successful automobiles built by Ferrari and paved the way for the emerging generation of mid-engined Ferraris. It is widely regarded as one of the best-handling and most gratifying automobiles of the early 70s, it is one of the most attractive, delicately balanced designs ever produced by the masters at Pininfarina. As a result Dinos have enjoyed a well-deserved recent surge in popularity.

This 246 Dino GT is an "M series" example and was completed in August 1971 and is presented in its original colour combination Argento Auteuil Metallizzato (106-E-1) with Nero (161 - Vinyl). The car was delivered new to Renato Nocentini Automobili S.p.A. of Prato near Florence, Italy.

The car has spent its recent life in Japan and prior to be shipped to its owner in Japan it was totally restored to a high standard. In Japan its use was limited meaning today the car is presented in superb condition. At restoration the decision was made to keep the specification as detailed above as it left the factory although the car has received the addition of some desirable front brake cooling ducts as per a later "E series" example, a useful addition especially if the car is going to be driven in a spirited fashion.

Recently the car has received a major check over and service by a well-known Ferrari specialist. It is ready to be used and enjoyed and would make an excellent addition to any collection.
