The much sought-after Ferrari 246 Dino GT was named after Enzo Ferrari's son Alfredino, who died in 1956, aged 24 years. Enzo Ferrari credits his son with the inspiration for a series of successful small and medium capacity V6 racing engines built by Ferrari from 1956, and in turn the name was given to a new line of mid-engined production Ferrari V6 coupés, which first went on sale in 1969. The Dino 246GT has proved to be one of the most satisfying and successful automobiles built by Ferrari and paved the way for the emerging generation of mid-engined Ferraris. It is widely regarded as one of the best-handling and most gratifying automobiles of the early 70s, it is one of the most attractive, delicately balanced designs ever produced by the masters at Pininfarina. As a result Dinos have enjoyed a well-deserved recent surge in popularity.

This early Right Hand Drive, "M" series car (one of 497 built) was ordered new by Maranello Concessionaires in November 1971. This Dino was one of 226 vehicles specified in stunning Giallo Fly with Nero upholstery and carpets and the option of Electric windows. The first owner a Mr N Colenso of Southampton who took delivery in February 1972, shortly after the car would journey to Ireland where it remained until in the early 1970s the car was sold to Percy Victor Dobson of Kendal in the Lake District, the car would remain with the Dobson family (passing from Victor to his sons) for over 30 years until 2006 and was used sparingly in this period, in 2011 following a major overhaul the car was purchased and added to the impressive collection of the well-known Gentlemen Racing Driver, Simon Phillips. Simon a veteran of 7 Le Mans 24 Hours and a full BRDC member sadly passed away in 2013, since then the car has resided in private collection and the car was treated to another overhaul less than 12 months ago, further to which the car will be given a full service. Remarkably since new the car has covered a total of just 33,500 miles, as validated by the cars extensive history file. This wonderful 4 owner Dino is presented in its original colour combination and, ready to be used and enjoyed immediately is in need of absolutely nothing.
