Launched during October 1981's Paris Salon, Ferrari's 512 BB "i" most notably marked the arrival of fuel injection on Ferrari's Flat-12. Replacing the familiar Weber carbs (seen on almost every previous Ferrari model). Fuel injection not only improved an engine's flexibility but made it much easier to maintain as well as prolonging the lifetime of the engine.
The BBi remained in production for almost three years. A few minor detail changes were made to the bodywork with clear reflectors inserted into the front bumper and supplementary driving lights now exposed in the grille. There were also new wing mirrors.
This example offered for sale is a late, and in our opinion more desirable, injection model that was produced in late 1984. The original specification is as the car is presented today being Rosso Corsa (over Nero) with Beige Leather interior and Castoro carpets.
The delivery destination was intended to be the USA but as no BBis were officially supplied to the USA, this car went via Germany before being privately imported to Connecticut in February 1985 as evidenced by the plate still present in the driver's door shut and the book, "Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer" by Nathan Beehl.
The car remained in the USA until 2013 when it was repatriated to Europe. Today it is presented in extremely good condition but importantly also very original condition having an indicated mileage of just 3,600 miles from new. The car will be supplied UK road registered and having had a full and major cambelt service in our workshops.
Being rarer than a Daytona, BBis are currently experiencing a deserved price correction. This example is certainly one not to be missed being in extremely good and original order and with a very low mileage from new.
