The Ferrari 575 Superamerica was designed by Pininfarina as an exclusive low volume V12 Ferrari berlinetta featuring a highly original, innovative take on the convertible concept. The Superamerica was the first production car to adopt an innovative rotating roof movement in combination with electrochromic technology developed exclusively for glass surfaces of these dimensions, with Saint Gobain. The Fioravanti-patented rotating roof concept allows the Superamerica driver to electrically drop the top in 10 seconds flat, making it the world's fastest convertible berlinetta (201 MPH top speed).
The Superamerica's unusual electric roof was dubbed Revocromico to highlight the unique combination of its rearward rotation movement and electrochromic technology. It has a carbon-fibre structure and the boot capacity remains unchanged whether the roof is open or closed too. The glass rear window also acts as a highly effective wind deflector when the roof is open. The use of electrochromic glass means that the driver can completely control the level of light entering the cockpit. There are five tint levels available and the glass can go from dark to light in under a minute, at the touch of a button.
Derived from the 575M Maranello, the Superamerica was enhanced to deliver 540 hp. This exceptional example has covered just 6,500 miles from new and is presented in Rosso Scuderia, a rare striking colour of which only two RHD examples exist. In addition to the colour the car was also delivered with the following options of Tan Daytona Leather Electric Seats, Fiorano Handling Pack, Trimmed Fire Extinguisher, Trimmed Rear Bulkhead, Rosso Instruments and Calipers, Scuderia Wingshields and the extremely rare option of upgraded brakes. The car was originally delivered to the HK market in November 2006 but covered less than 400 miles before being exported to the UK in September 2007, the car was then UK registered and was owned by its second owner until 2010, In 2010 the car was sold to the third owner, and registered in Harrogate, a couple of months later the car was exported by the third owner to his home in Auckland New Zealand. In New Zealand the car was meticulously cared for by the Auckland Ferrari main dealer (Continental Car Services) and in this warm climate the car covered 2,500 miles. In 2012 the car was re-imported in the UK, having now covered 5,500 Miles. The car was placed in professional storage but still serviced annually. The fourth owner purchased the car less than one year ago. This four owner car has today covered a total of 6,500 miles; having been always been serviced by respected Ferrari main dealers and impeccably cared for the car is presented in an exceptional condition and complete with all tools, books and spare keys.
