This short nose 275 GTB was delivered in 1965 and was raced extensively and successfully by its first owner, the amateur racing driver, Carlo Benelli AKA "Riccardone" for two years including most notably at the 1967 1000kms of Monza, where the car finished 15th overall and 2nd in Class.
The car was originally delivered in stunning Verde Bosco (a non-standard colour and in fact a Mercedes pine metallic green) and was equipped from new with a factory roll cage and a passenger headrest. These rare optional extras point to the original owners intent to compete with the car right from the start. During 1965, 1966 and 1967 the car was raced at numerous events including the Trofeo Venturi (2nd OA), the Predappio-Rocca Caminata hillclimb, the Coppa della Collina (1st OA), the Coppa Città di Volterra, the Antignano-Menteburrone hillclimb, the Trieste-Opicina hillclimb, the Pieve-San Stefano hillclimb, the Coppa Fausto Pesci-Vallelunga (3rd OA), the Gara Tris at Vallelunga (1st OA) and for its final competition outing the 1000 kms of Monza in 1967.
The car was then sold to its second owner and in turn to the famous Tom Meade who took the car to the USA where it was sold to its third private owner. Amazingly the car has remained with the same owner from 1969 until this day. In addition to its stunning period colour combination, this exceptional 275 is a highly eligible machine as a result of its extensive period racing history and its 1965 build date. The car would qualify for many of the world's greatest historic motoring events. The car is matching numbers throughout, is currently being Classiche certified and without doubt presents an exciting opportunity for the next owner.
