The much sought-after Ferrari 246 Dino GT was named after Enzo Ferrari's son Alfredino, who died in 1956, aged 24 years. Enzo Ferrari credits his son with the inspiration for a series of successful small and medium capacity V6 racing engines built by Ferrari from 1956, and in turn the name was given to a new line of mid-engined production Ferrari V6 coupés, which first went on sale in 1969. The Dino 246GT has proved to be one of the most satisfying and successful automobiles built by Ferrari and paved the way for the emerging generation of mid-engined Ferraris. It is widely regarded as one of the best-handling and most gratifying automobiles of the early 70s, it is one of the most attractive, delicately balanced designs ever produced by the masters at Pininfarina. As a result Dinos have enjoyed a well-deserved recent surge in popularity.

This Rosso Corsa Dino GT with Nero leather was supplied by DK Engineering to it's current owner in 2006 and has been regularly maintained by our workshops since. The car was originally delivered in February 1972 and was fitted with the optional extras of electric windows and Perspex headlight covers (which are still in place). The car, chassis number 03176, stayed in Surrey with it's first owner until the second owner, Mr N Maris of Morland Navigation purchased the car and it moved to his home address in London. Mr Maris maintained the car fastidiously and had much work done at the Graypaul's in Loughborough. This included a full engine rebuild in October 1981 and a bare metal respray in June 1984. A year later in 1985, 03176 was purchased from Mr Maris by Nik Shenton. Mr Shenton continued to ensure that the car was always in a fine bill of health and entrusted most of the work to the same specialists that the previous owner had used, most notably Graypaul. Throughout his period of ownership which lasted until 2000 Nik Shenton spent thousands of pounds to ensure that the car was near perfect.

In 2000 the car was offered for sale by Auction, Lot 76 was "reported as being in good condition in every department, the car, which has had just three owners, speaks for it'self in terms of condition." and described as "A delightful Dino which is sure to please the connoisseur." During the six years between the auction and the purchase of the car by the current owner this "delightful Dino" passed through three further owners.

When sold by ourselves to the current owner in 2006 we undertook another total engine rebuild which included a conversion to allow the car to run on unleaded fuel, this was carried out as part of the sale.

The current owner has enjoyed the car immensely and has completed 7,000 miles of motoring in 03176. This Dino is now offered for sale in an excellent condition with just 67,000 miles since 1972 which are extremely well documented in an impressive and comprehensive history file which records the car's history through almost every tax disc, MOT, and invoice since the 70s.
