The much sought-after Ferrari 246 Dino GT was named after Enzo Ferrari's son Alfredino, who died in 1956, aged 24 years. Enzo Ferrari credits his son with the inspiration for a series of successful small and medium capacity V6 racing engines built by Ferrari from 1956, and in turn the name was given to a new line of mid-engined production Ferrari V6 coupés, which first went on sale in 1969. The Dino 246GT has proved to be one of the most satisfying and successful automobiles built by Ferrari and paved the way for the emerging generation of mid-engined Ferraris. It is widely regarded as one of the best-handling and most gratifying automobiles of the early 70s, it is one of the most attractive, delicately balanced designs ever produced by the masters at Pininfarina. As a result Dinos have enjoyed a well-deserved recent surge in popularity.

This 246 Dino, chassis 04024, is an original UK RHD series II GT and was first registered in August 1972. It was purchased by its current owner in late 1972 from Hexagon of Highgate (Window stickers still in place) with just circa 500 miles on the speedo. The headlamp covers, nudge bar and Ferrari badges were already in place when he purchased the vehicle.

The car has amazingly remained with the same owner since then and has covered just 13,900 miles from new. This is a true "barn find" example with exceptional low mileage. It could be argued that this is a 1 owner example from new, a real rarity. It is supplied with its original tools and books and a statement from the current owner describing his ownership. Although having been used sparingly the car is in remarkable good condition and drives exceptionally well - a full but sympathetic service at DK is being carried out as part of the sale. Most importantly is original and in such a way that it can be used and enjoyed immediately whilst appreciated as a unmolested example.
