It is argued that the "One-77" is a sports car of unparalleled beauty with subtle aggression and performance and was the most exclusive Aston Martin of the 'Gaydon era'. The One-77 was developed in 2008 and 2009 with the goal of eclipsing any previous Aston Martin road car.
The first glimpse the world got of the One-77 hypercar was a maquette of the new car at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, three quarters covered by a grey pin-stripe fabric cover with only a glimpse of the front right side coyly peeping out. The full picture was revealed at the March 2009 Geneva Motor Show, where a metallic blue mockup and rolling chassis with its entire powertrain were on display. The finished car made its bow in late April 2009 at the Concorso d'Eleganza Ville d'Este on the shores of Lake Como, winning the Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes.
Fusing advanced technology with stunning design, the 750 bhp 7.3 litre V12 One-77 was revealed as the fastest-ever Aston Martin, with a top speed of 220 mph. In Aston Martin's eyes the One-77 at the time represented what was possibly the world's most desirable automotive art form, we agree.
Very much an amalgamation of the highlights of modern Aston Martin design, the One-77 was limited to just 77 units, each one an individual representation of Aston Martin’s best customers. Built-in partnership with advanced technical partners Multimatic, who were wholly responsible for the car’s complex chassis and suspension componentry, have since gone on to build the V6 Ford GT and are now mid-development of the Mercedes AMG Project One.
Whilst the entire Aston Martin range at the time used an aluminium tub as part of the VH architecture, the One-77 was developed to be as light as possible. Multimatic created a full carbon fibre tub, each one taking 6 weeks to lay by hand and manufactured at their facility in Canada before being sent to the UK.
This example was supplied new to Spain in Silver Pearl over Magnetic Grey ‘Deepsoft’ leather with Raven black stitching. Of the three interior options, this example features the lesser-seen perforated-Alcantara seat inserts with silver foil backing. The fantastic centre console design that paved the way for future Astons features anodised black interior switchgear and the full-length carbon fibre facia insert.
Outside, the car sees black brake callipers behind the upgraded 10- spoke forged wheels, polished and bead blasted. The outside brightwork, including the grille, bonnet vents and side strakes are suitably in a polished finish.
This example is available for acquisition from its second keeper and has been used sparingly. Regularly serviced with Aston Martin Geneva, the car remains in storage and will be serviced as part of the sale. The mileage today stands at 1,950kms and presents superbly.
Believed to be one of just four examples supplied new in Silver Pearl, this One-77 presents a rare opportunity to acquire an elegant and timeless specification of the pinnacle of modern Aston Martin design.
This example is available to view at our showrooms outside London immediately
