Launched in 2019, the McLaren Senna was launched by CEO Mike Flewitt as the ‘personification of McLaren’s motorsport DNA’. A brand steeped in Formula 1 history and named after arguably the great F1 driver of all time, Ayrton Senna, the ‘Senna’ is very much a road car developed from countless hours of fine-tuning Formula 1 and GT race cars leading the racetracks of the world for over 50 years.
The Senna is the most hardcore road car McLaren has ever built. Whilst not a replacement for the P1, the Senna certainly learns from its development. It benefits from the improved 4.0 twin-turbocharged V8 powerplant that was introduced on the 720S and does away with the hybrid system altogether benefitting from the 150kg weight-saving. The revised capacity upgrade sees a rise of both 60bhp and 60lbft over the P1’s engine-only statistics to 789bhp and 590lbft respectively.
Beneath the all-Carbon Fibre bodywork, the Senna receives the updated Monocage III Carbon Fibre tub from the 720S. Stiffer, of course, the updated tub also makes entry and exit significantly easier.
From first glance, it is clear to see the Senna has been designed with function in mind. It certainly delivers. The advanced active aerodynamics means the car is capable of producing 800kg of downforce at 150mph. By comparison, the hallowed McLaren F1 produced just 50kg at 150mph! Despite being 115bhp down on the P1, the Senna is reportedly 5 seconds a lap faster around the full Silverstone circuit.
As such, McLaren has delivered what is surely the ultimate track-focused driving experience. A road car built from the learnings of 50 years of motorsport experience that can produce lap times just short of GT3-Class racers or be sedately driven to the shops.
This elegantly specified example visited McLaren Special Operations for a number of bespoke options. The paint itself was paint matched to Aryton Senna’s 1988 World Champion helmet and subsequently named Brazilian Blue. Continuing with the Brazilian colours, the brake calipers are painted in Bespoke Solar Yellow and the centre-lock wheel nuts painted in Bespoke Laurel Green. The final MSO addition to the outside, the front Aero blades are finished in Satin Visible Carbon Fibre.
Inside, the car received an MSO Bespoke interior. Jet Black leather seat pads feature Laurel Green perforation, Solar Yellow contrast stitching and the Senna ‘Double S’ logo in subtle Stone Grey. The steering wheel also sees Solar Yellow Stitching with the 12’o’ clock marker once more in Bespoke Laurel Green. All interior Carbon Fibre is a satin finish.
This example features a number of other options like the desirable Gorilla Glass roof and door panels with MSO darker tints, McLaren 3-Camera track telemetry, 6-point harnesses, Visible Carbon Fibre door sills and much like a Le Mans prototype, McLaren Special Operations Push To Drink system. This example also features Bowers & Wilkins 7 speaker audio and Climate control.
This example was supplied new to its first owner through McLaren Hatfield in December 2018 and has since covered just 1,550 Miles. Having received its first service in December 2019, this example presents on the button ready to be used and enjoyed. Accompanied by all of its accessories including Books, harnesses and fitted car cover, this example is available to view at our showrooms just outside London immediately.
