Re-using a nickname given to the original 250 GT Berlinetta Competizione after its win of the Tour de France Automobile in 1956, the F12 Tour de France (TDF) is the latest limited edition front-engined, Ferrari V12 GT car. At it’s heart, the 6.3 litre V12 lifted from the F12 Berlinetta, uprated from an already hefty 730bhp to 769bhp with an 8900rpm rev limit. This affords the naturally aspirated F12TdF 123bhp per litre, through the use of a revised inlet manifold and mechanical rather than hydraulic tappets.
Shorter gear rations enable a 2.9 second sprint to 60mph with 120mph just five seconds later. These changes make for a 1:21.00 lap of Fiorano, second only to the LaFerrari by 1.3 seconds.
The F12 TdF is 110kg lighter than the F12, thanks to the prominent use of Alcantara and Carbon Fibre in the interior instead of Leather and Aluminium, and the extensive use of Carbon Fibre on the outside. Fitted for the first time on a Ferrari road car the TDF creates a ‘virtual short wheelbase’ system through the use of active rear wheel steering; actuators on the toe link add up to a degree of angle greatly increasing stability.
Visually the F12 TDF draws many cues from great Ferrari GT cars of old, with references made to the 250 TDF of old, and the likes of the 275 GTB. This specific example draws much of inspiration from the first 250 GT ‘Tour de France’; #0585GT. Presented in special, extra-range Rosso TRS with a classic stripe in Blu Nart and Bianco Avus that runs the length of the car. The car benefits from forged wheels in Oro with discreet Nero calipers.
All the exterior Carbon Fibre options were ticked; as such this car features Carbon Fibre front headlight buckets, rear foglight, under floor door trims, wheel centre caps as well as front winglets and rear diffuser. This car also sees the larger, hand painted Scuderia Shields on the car’s front wings and the stripe
The interior is presented in Blu Santorini leather; as #0585GT was delivered, a vibrant light blue befitting of its sporting heritage. The large Carbon Fibre backed race seats feature a Bianco centre stripe, Bianco inserts and stitched Cavallino in Bianco on the headrests. The leather rear parcel shelf and headliner feature the elegant diamond stitched pattern also with the contrasting Bianco stitching. Further detailing inside sees the switchgear and air vent surrounds painted in Bianco Avus, as well as Dreamlines on the gearbox paddles in Bianco. The exterior stripe is also replicated vertically on the steering wheel, much like the continuation of the stripe through the interior of #0585GT.
Options include High Power HiFi, Satellite Navigation, Front Axle lifter, Passenger Display and a host of extended leather options.
Delivered in July 2017, what makes this F12TDF stand out from the rest is its absolutely stunning specification. It is one of a handful of examples to feature a livery as per that of the original 250 ‘Tour de France’ cars.
Having travelled less than 750 miles from new, the F12tdf presents in excellent condition both inside and out. It is without doubt the ultimate front-engined Ferrari supercar and a true modern-day collectable that will continue to be held in high esteem by collectors and enthusiasts for years to come. It is available to view at our showrooms just outside London immediately.
