This factory right hand drive Alfa spider was imported into the UK from South Africa in 2000 and has been in current ownership since 2006.
Based on the Alfa Romeo Giulia 105-series chassis, which was also used for saloons and GT/GTV Bertone coupes, this is one of the Pininfarina designed series one Giulia 105 Spiders with long/round tail body, which is arguably the prettiest version of this series of Spiders. The first 105-series Spiders were fitted with the 1600 twin-cam engines and were unofficially known as the "Duetto". The engines were then increased to 1779cc to become the 1750 Spider Veloce and the unofficial "Duetto" name was dropped. Veloce is Italian for speed.
This particular Spider was originally white. At some point prior to the 1990's it was painted red then in the 1990's it was again painted, this time in Green, which has been retained to this day. It is possible, although unconfirmed, that this car is one of the rarer South African built Spiders. Apart form the colour this car is believed to be mainly original, although the sills were renewed in 2004. Campagnolo replica wheels have been fitted. Under its present ownership the engine has had a full DK engine top end rebuild, new shock absorbers, a brake overhaul and it is fitted with a Becker Mexico (period looking stereo with sat nav etc) that you can no longer obtain. The car has had a vast amount spent on it at the bodyshop to get it looking "tip top". The car has been dry stored and not used in bad weather. A massive history file accompanies the car validating that it has been maintained by ourselves at no expense spared.
